NXNEi 2012 Workshop Results

Above are a couple of my own edited (before & after) results from the NXNE workshop held on June 12, 2012 at the Hyatt in downtown Toronto. During the workshop, I had little time to shoot the Next Canada model (walked away with ~10 shots in total) but made sure every attendee got their time with the model and lighting scenarios.

Throughout the day we covered natural lighting (utilizing reflectors), strobes and modifiers, as well as a combination of both. In the morning we discussed composition, manual settings within a variety the attendees cameras (Sony/Nikon/Canon), different styles of shooting, team dynamics, models, release forms, and as the day came to a close we discussed some retouching techniques.

In addition to DSLR photography, Dan Cristea, dropped by for an hour to chat about mobile photography utilizing his iPhone. He showed some of his favorite apps which I instantly downloaded and tried out during the rest of the week while attending NXNE sessions and concerts.

The overview presentation slides have been uploaded, which include a screenshot of my SetBuilder application that’s about to be released as a BETA, as well as links and thank yous that include the gear rentals from Vistek.

Thanks to my team for helping out during the day and making it a memorable experience for all: including assistant Marta Blicharz who also shot the behind the scenes photos, the lovely and talented makeup artist Olga Onulov, and new-commer to the group: hair stylist Kristen Sargent.

As time goes on, I do hope to see more attendee results posted to the Flickr group even though I’ve seen most of the shots appear on Facebook. Perhaps it’s time to create a Facebook page.
